Sleep Disorders

Sleep medicine intersects neurology, pulmonology and psychiatry with major therapeutic advances. The session covers orexin-receptor agonists for narcolepsy (TAK-861 phase 3, oveporexton) as the first potentially disease-modifying therapy, restless legs syndrome management, REM sleep behaviour disorder (RBD) as prodromal alpha-synucleinopathy, obstructive sleep apnea management including GLP-1 (SURMOUNT-OSA), hypoglossal nerve stimulation (Inspire), and emerging sleep biomarkers. Discussion addresses insomnia therapeutics beyond DORAs (suvorexant, lemborexant, daridorexant), pediatric sleep medicine, the gut-microbiome and circadian-rhythm interface, sleep in neurodegenerative disease, and the role of wearables and AI in sleep diagnosis.
