Functional Imaging

Functional neuroimaging spans research and clinical applications with growing clinical translation. The session covers fMRI in pre-surgical planning (language and motor mapping), FDG-PET in dementia diagnostic algorithms, amyloid PET (florbetaben, florbetapir) and tau PET (flortaucipir, MK-6240) imaging in Alzheimer's, dopamine transporter imaging (DaTscan, ioflupane) in Parkinsonism differentiation, connectivity-based functional MRI in psychiatry and OCD/depression, and DBS targeting imaging. Discussion addresses 7T MRI clinical applications, brain-machine interface preparation imaging, the role of imaging in DBS programming optimisation, dopaminergic vs noradrenergic imaging, novel tracers in neurology, and emerging imaging biomarkers for neurodegenerative disease.
