Neuro-Ophthalmology
Neuro-ophthalmology bridges neurology and ophthalmology with multiple sight-threatening emergencies. The session covers optic neuritis spectrum (MS, MOGAD, NMOSD differential), giant cell arteritis screening with ESR/CRP, idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) management including acetazolomide, weight loss, and CSF diversion surgery, visual field interpretation in neuro-ophthalmology, the diagnostic workup of acute visual loss, and OCT applications in neurology beyond MS. Discussion addresses third/fourth/sixth cranial nerve palsy workup, internuclear ophthalmoplegia, Wernicke encephalopathy and ocular signs, papilledema vs pseudopapilledema, optic disc drusen, and the integration of OCT-angiography in neurological disease.
